About the Artist: Gustav-Adolf Johansson (1912–2011) was a Swedish painter, graphic artist, and illustrator renowned for his diverse body of work, including realistic landscapes, still lifes, and portraits. Born on November 6, 1912, in Askersund, he worked as a professional painter and studied drawing at the ABC School in Stockholm in the early 1940s, later receiving a Paris scholarship to study at the Académie Julian. He debuted at the Borås Art Museum in 1944 and participated in the 12th Graphics Triennial at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm in 2003. His art, executed in oil or drypoint engraving, often featured architectural motifs and natural scenes, with a focus on capturing the serene beauty of the Swedish landscape. Johansson’s works are represented in collections at institutions like the Nationalmuseum and Borås Konstmuseum, cementing his legacy in Scandinavian art.
