Spring Season
Spring Season
Artist: Helge Cardell
Medium: Oil on Canvas
Dimensions: 12” x 19”
This softly rendered landscape captures the impression of a lush, sunlit forest or grove. The artist uses loose, textured brushstrokes and a subdued palette dominated by greens, yellows, and hints of blue and brown to evoke the natural density of trees and foliage. The background fades gently into a pale, hazy sky, suggesting a calm, misty morning or late afternoon light.
The brushwork is expressive rather than detailed — blending colors in a way that emphasizes mood and atmosphere over precise form. The result feels tranquil, almost dreamlike, as if viewed through a light fog or from memory. This post-impressionist painting focuses on color harmony and emotional resonance rather than realism.
This piece is in very good condition, consistent with its vintage age, with no obvious signs of wear. All artwork is sold as found, and we always carefully photograph and highlight any notable signs of age.
About the Artist: Cardell first worked in the hide and leather industry. He began painting in 1920 and studied at the Skåne Painting School in Malmö from 1928 to 1930 and during trips to the Netherlands, England, Germany and France. From 1931 he participated in the exhibitions of the Skåne Art Association and with the Gothenburg Art Association and the Swedish General Art Association . He exhibited separately in Malmö and at Galleri Gummeson in Stockholm. Together with Sigfrid Bengtsson , Jonas Fröding and Thure Thörn, he exhibited in Malmö in 1950. His art consists of interiors and landscapes. Cardell is represented at the Västerås Art Museum ,the Ystad Art Museum and the Halmstad Museum.
