Artist: Helge Cardell (1902-1972)

The painting depicts a coastal scene with a dark boat moored in shallow, turquoise water in the foreground. The boat carries a few figures and some cargo, including a stack of boxes. In the background, a rugged shoreline with dark structures and hints of yellow and green vegetation stretches under a pale, overcast sky. The brushstrokes are broad and textured, creating a sense of movement and atmosphere

About the Artist: Cardell first worked in the hide and leather industry. He began painting in 1920 and studied at the Skåne Painting School in Malmö from 1928 to 1930 and during trips to the Netherlands, England, Germany and France. From 1931 he participated in the exhibitions of the Skåne Art Association and with the Gothenburg Art Association and the Swedish General Art Association . He exhibited separately in Malmö and at Galleri Gummeson in Stockholm. Together with Sigfrid Bengtsson , Jonas Fröding and Thure Thörn, he exhibited in Malmö in 1950. His art consists of interiors and landscapes. Cardell is represented at the Västerås Art Museum , the Ystad Art Museum and the Halmstad Museum . The Cardells are buried at Limhamn Cemetery in Malmö.

This piece is in very good condition, consistent with its vintage age, with no obvious signs of wear.
