The Ocean House

Artist: Nils-Folke Knafve (1905-1996)

Medium: Oil on Canas

Dimensions: 21” x 25.5”

This peaceful coastal landscape is rendered in broad, expressive brushstrokes and soft, luminous colors. Rolling green fields and clusters of foliage lead the viewer’s eye toward the sea. Two small houses with slanted roofs are nestled among the greenery — their light tones contrasting gently with the vibrant vegetation around them.

Beyond the land, a serene blue ocean stretches across the middle of the composition, meeting a pale horizon under a softly clouded sky. The artist uses light blues, greens, yellows, and touches of violet to convey a sense of airiness and freshness, suggesting a breezy day by the shore.

The brushwork is loose and painterly, with dabs of color creating movement in the clouds and reflections in the water. The overall effect is tranquil and atmospheric — a celebration of light, color, and the quiet beauty of a coastal landscape.

This piece is in very good condition, consistent with its vintage age, with no obvious signs of wear. All artwork is sold as found, and we always carefully photograph and highlight any notable signs of age.
