Walk in the Park

Artist: Eugenis Klenø

Medium: Oil on Canvas

Dimensions: 24.5” x 20”

This is a vibrant landscape painting in a bold, expressive post-impressionist with thick, energetic brushstrokes, simplified forms, and unapologetically bright colors that prioritize feeling and light over realism. The scene captures a sunny, tropical or Mediterranean-style vista looking out across a wide green park toward a calm body of water. The composition is dynamic and layered. Distant hills or mountains rise behind the water, creating a strong sense of depth.

Artist Information: Evgenji Klenø (1921 – 2005) was a Danish-Russian artist working in both graphic arts and as a painter. He began his career in Copenhagen, studying at Jacobine ‘Bizzie’ Høyer’s painting school up until the start of the Second World War. During the war, Klenø fled to Sweden, where he was taught by renowned Swedish painter, Isaac Grünewald. After the war ended, he joined the prestigious Royal Danish Academy of Arts, participating in a number of exhibitions in Denmark including ones held in Charlottenborg, Aarhus, and Taarnby.

Klenø spent much time living across Europe in the mid-twentieth century. In Paris, where he lived at the Danish Artist’s House with Richard Mortensen and Robert Jacobsen, he was affiliated with the Galerie Denise René, a space that has historically been dedicated to constructive and kinetic art. He also spent time living in Italy and Spain before moving back to France, where he lived until his death.

This piece is in very good condition, consistent with its vintage age, with no obvious signs of wear.

All artwork is sold as found, and we always carefully photograph and highlight any notable signs of age. In most cases, the frame and hanging materials are in their original state. Please take care to reinforce, repair or replace brackets and hanging wires or strings before you hang them on your wall, as we are not responsible for any breakage or damage after the item leaves our care.
